Introduction to Tai Chi

Use movement, self-massage, meditation and breath work to turn on your body’s ability for healing, endurance and longevity. Learn a simple medical qigong routine which will be used as a warm up and then a modified tai chi form that is easy to practice. Can be performed sitting, standing and walking. We will experiment with different styles so you can develop your own practice. You will have the option of purchasing a DVD for $10 to continue your practice at home.
Class will be held Tuesday, 9/19 AND 10/3. NO CLASS ON 9/26.

Japanese Shibori Silk Scarves

Create a beautiful gift to give during the holidays. “Shibori” is the Japanese resist method of creating designs on silk scarves using PVC pipes. Learn how to wrap scarves around the pipes and spill color onto the pipe in layer after layer. You will also be able to paint directly on your scarves. Finish 2 unique scarves, just in time for Mother’s day gift giving! Wear old clothes and bring an old tower and scissors.

Maine Driving Dynamics
Improve your defensive driving awareness and abilities. Take part in discussions of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine's highways. Those completing the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record.

Making Goat Milk Soap at Home

Transform common kitchen ingredients into beautiful hand crafted soap. Night one learn the science of soap making, safety tips, tools and ingredients. Using a basic recipe, you will make a simple but luxurious soap. Night two, you will expand your repertoire by adding color, scent and/or exfoliant of your choice. You will go home with several bars of soap.
