Alcohol Ink Necklace

Paint with colorful alcohol inks and create a one of a kind Art Necklace.  You add your choice of colors and seal and create a unique Glass Pendant Necklace with fabric chain.  Use our collection of inks and supplies or bring your own favorites.  Material Fee of $10 paid to instructor at class.  (You may create more than one necklace for additional material fee of $5 per necklace.)

Join Portland Jetport’s featured artist and online instructor Kellie Chasse, as she show’s you how to paint with colorful alcohol inks.  Receive step by step instructions and create a beautiful, bold, and spontaneous LOVE TREE 5x7 painting in one night!  No experience needed and all supplies will be provided including  an 8”x10” acid free mat, foam core backing and plastic sleeve. Art Night Out - Collage Charm

Make your own meaningful mini-collages using paper, text, photos and more.  Color wash, glaze and apply pigment powders.  When your collage is complete, you will place it between glass and finish with a unique solderless metal frame.  Size of charm is 1”x3”. Fee includes all materials to make 1 two-sided charm.

Art Night Out - Natural Brass Embossed Pendant

Using the Vintaj metal texturizing system,  impress patterns on pre-patinaed natural brass shapes and reveal interesting contrast with sanding blocks and sand paper.  By experimenting with metal patina inks, you will add gorgeous, layered color.  Finally, combine your textured metal with chain and beads to create whimsical, modern jewelry.  Fee includes all materials to make one pendant.

Whether you hike, paddle, or showshoe in the woods consider this workshop.  Taught by a Master Guide and long-time emergency aid instructor.  This is a non-certification program that includes essential wilderness first aid knowledge and skills.  Students should bring their packs or other “goodies” they usually have with them in the woods.

Backyard Chicken Ranching

BBQ Basics & Birds–5/6

Create your own rubs and sauces with different regional styles and flavors.  Using a variety of smoking methods, prepare mouth-watering smoked chicken thighs and a whole chicken and sample other styles of barbecued birds.  Different options for chicken, turkey and game birds will be discussed.  Make traditional barbecue side dishes to enjoy with our end of the day feast.

Beef, Pork & Other Tasty Critters–5/13

It’s time to delve into other more challenging meats.  Discuss smoking beef, roasts and short ribs to burgers and brisket.  Explore options available for the many cuts of beef.  Also on the menu is variations on pork:  butts, bacon, sausage and ribs!!  Discover the 3-2-1 method for smoking great southern style spareribs.  While the ribs are smoking we will make the best cornbread and coleslaw you will find north of the Mason-Dixon Line.  Plenty to sample and plenty to eat.
